Not really. In such a big city as New York, there are probably plenty of gay Muslims looking for partners of the same faith. That said, it's definitely a bit off-putting that the provocative aspect of the project is so clear. Doesn't really matter in the long run though.

"Muslim beliefs" covers a lot of ground, just as "Christian beliefs" does. Just as some Christians are bigots and some are not, some Muslims are bigots and some are not.

"Christian belief" and "Islamic belief" and "insert religion X belief" are determined by what the practitioners of those religions agree upon believing, which varies widely within each religion, depending upon how progressive or regressive any particular sect is (including the extent to which it's members think that everything written in their holy book applies to modern society). You can't point to the Bible or the Qu'ran and say anything about Christian or Muslim belief without putting it in the context of how it's interpreted by Christians and Muslims, respectively. Which is why the idea of "Christian belief" and "Muslim belief" is complete nonsense, because there is little that all Christians or all Muslims agree on.

a) The Bible and Qur'an are interpreted in a multitude of different ways, so there's no one definitive thing that the two books say

b) Different sects pull different aspects of the different books. Very few sects take everything verbatim.

To the extent that there are things that all Muslims or all Christians believe (or that all the major sects officially believe), you can say that those things constitute Muslim belief or Christian belief. But you can say that by pointing to the empirical instances of Muslims/Christians believing those things, not by pointing to a book or set of books.

For example, believing in evolution isn't contrary to Christian belief, but it is contrary to the belief of many fundamentalist sects. If you looked only to the Bible, though, and took it literally, then you'd have to say that it's contrary to Christian belief. This is obviously proven false by the fact that a vast array of non-insane Christians don't reject basic findings of science.
