I agree with all of this, but don't kid yourself, the people involved in this were definitely looking forward to laughing at a certain segment of the US population when they came up with this idea.
So now you can't even build stuff near the event of a major catastrophe in case relatives get sad. Boo fucking hoo. Political correctness gone mad
it certainly is political correctness gone mad. i can't believe how many people are going along with this stupid idea just to keep up the illusion of tolerance.
I think you missed the point, SS. The politically correct idea is being overly sensitive to butthurt and irrationally emotional New Yorkers. Planting a mosque on top of the biggest Islamic terriss attack in U.S. history is actually very politically incorrect. It would be like Fred Phelps moving his compound to San Francisco.
Let's be clear, I hate Islam as much as the next progressive. It's just that there's a lot of us who support the mosque for strictly trolling middle America/anti-Christian reasons. Not necessarily out of support for Islam or feel-good tolerance.
I don't mosques should ever be allowed in NYC after what happened on September 11th. I also think all conservatives should be expelled from Germany for what they did during WW2. And hey, why don't they ban liberalism in France too? Do they really want another Robespierre?
who gives a fuck man. jesus is coming to judge all their asses. coming on a white steed, blood on his fuckin robe, fuckin sword coming out his mouth. the lord is gonna cold fuck up all their shit.
fuck if i know, bro. only parts of the bible i bother with are the ones where jesus and his bros smack haters in the mouth.
It has nothing to do with tolerance or being PC; it's simply a non-issue that no one in their right mind should give a fuck about. It's being used by the demagogues of the far right to manipulate you and others, and you're falling for it like fucking lemmings. Ever wonder why Middle America is so obsessed with "national security" when it's by far the least likely region in the U.S. to experience a terrorist attack? Ever wonder why Middle America seems to care more about 9/11 than New Yorkers themselves? It's because Middle America is being manipulated by the far right, to keep them from questioning why GM just moved another one of their plants overseas. That's all this story boils down to. The GOP invented an issue out of thin air as yet another way to get Midwesterners angry at something other than the fact that they live in America's 3rd world.
unfortunately, the fact is that people most certainly do give a shit about this; including the sort of people who start "fly a plane into the ground zero mosque" facebook pages. by the time all is said and done, this mongoloid mansion is going to do more harm to "interfaith relations" than good. if we lived in shiny happy forgivenessland, this would be a fine plan. but we don't; we live in a world where we all fucking hate each other. in this world it's a stupid fucking idea.
no, the only people who will be butthurt 2 weeks after its construction will be middle Americans. people who actually live in Manhattan are very progressive and diverse.
new yorkers can tell themselves that all they want, but people are the same everywhere. watch how much violence this thing spurs.
oh, that's one thing i want, which is one of the reasons i'm supporting the GZM. any opportunity for religious people to fight/kill each other is a good thing.
any violence that it does spur (if it spurs any) will hopefully be a nice wake up call to the fact that radical islamophobes are a far bigger threat to America than radical Muslims.
Humankind has reached a turning point Poised for conflict at ground zero Ready for a war Should we push the boundaries Or should we condemn Muslim trolls and Christfags Have collided
Christians are not more violent than Muslims, at least not intrinsically. Just read 5 pages of the Qur'an for crying out silently.
intrinsically meaning...? How their holy book is supposed to shape their conduct? We all know the Bible says: Hate the sin, not the sinner, yet, the highly vocal, repressive Christian cult preaches hate and intolerance. C'mon, that's not even a remotely adequate indicator.
True, but his points -- when he is right, as he is in this case -- are pretty much impossible to rebut. He is the brown William F. Buckley of our time.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2566848/posts We must call the Ruling Class in DC and demand an investigation. Send this to Drudge, Hannity, Levin, Beck et al.
If it’s ever built, I hope it gets leveled in short order! Let these pigs build their place of worship at Harvard or Berkley, or San Fransico, right next to the homosexuals they’ll surely stone to death.
It might be a moot point since a lot of jurisdictions have zoning laws that prohibit adult oriented businesses from being near churches. Hopefully this goes to the supreme court and they overturn the stupid zoning laws, thus granting godless liberals, not Christian conservatives*, a huge victory. (Gutfield is himself a Christian conservative, not a libertarian, so I'm not sure he would be willing to take it to court.)
not really sure what the point of this is. as if regular gay bars wouldnt let gay muslims in... if the GZ mosque isn't a troll, this certainly is.
If they don't, we've proven merely that they are similar to the vast swaths of intolerant Christian bigots that run rampant in this country. If they do, we've proven that they're not as bad.
If that were the case, why not just build a regular gay bar? Labeling it an Islamic gay bar, as if it's going to be any different than a regular gay bar, is unnecessary and stupid.
it's not an Islamic gay bar, it'll just cater to who'll be living in the area by having a non-alcoholic area.
