If you're using Firefox, it can be configured to do this for you, Or is this something that you want set in your account preferences so that it blocks images no matter what browser or device you use?

actually, Al it doesn't work. It blocks all of 5/8's images (smilies, avatars, etc) but the images within posts still show up.
yeah because those images are hosted here. Gimme a sec. I'm sure there's an option in your user permissions, I'll have a look.
Just talked with him and there's no way to disable this for you. Looks like something like Al suggested will be the only way, sorry
This add-on works for all images: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/image-block/?src=userprofile. If it's only a few images that you want to block, you could use AdBlock Plus and have it filter out those specific images.
