I'm looking for a bassist who can collaborate with me online (or in person if they live in LA) to finish some songs I wrote and recorded 2 years ago. Guys who can't record a cranked bass amp need not apply. This will be a purely professional relationship. There will be payment and credits. If you're interested (or just want to hear my tracks) you can go here: http://soundcloud.com/magus888 Send me links to your work and I'll be getting back to people here.
Oh, hello. I haven't done a new video for a while and I've upgraded my amp since these were recorded, but here are a few wee examples of bits that I've done in the past: Link to my main band's material: http://collisionprocess.bandcamp.com I also contributed bass tracks for most of Sky Bear's (aka Sondre, aka Skyblazer In Your Ass around these parts) new album, whenever he finishes it. So far this is the only song he's made public from that so far: From most of the above you'll no doubt get the view that I'm all about the tech metal and not much else, but I can be fairly versatile and I'm more than happy to sit back and keep it simple where necessary as well. I guess it's just that once you make a reputation for yourself playing a particular style, you often find that those are the opportunities most often presented to you. The tracks you posted above should be no problem. Do you have parts already written, or is it open for interpretation? Either is fine, but the latter may take a little longer obviously. Gear-wise (in terms of the bits you can't see above), I use/have use of the following: Maxon CP9 Pro+ compressor pedal. EBS MultiDrive overdrive pedal. EBS OctaBass octave pedal. Genz Benz ShuttleMax 9.2 amp head (900W, dual blendable solid state and tube preamps, purchased since the last video and sounds much beefier than the old amp. And beefy is good). Barefaced Super Twelve T (2x12 cabinet with tweeter. Monstrous, but not present on the above videos either unfortunately). I use Pro Tools to record, and at home I can use either a Focusrite OctoPre LE or a humble MBox for preamps, using the direct output from the head (which sounds more than good enough for most things in my experience). If you're willing to spend a little more (don't worry I won't extort you, I just need to cover travel and hire costs), I have access to a professional studio where I can mic up the cab (the usual standard stuff available - SM7, Beta 52, D112 etc), and have a much nicer selection of rack gear including Chandler Abbey Road TG2 preamps, a UA 1176 compressor, and a rare Urei 1b compressor which is an 1176 prototype of some sort. See http://www.univibeaudio.co.uk for details on that, but ignore the hourly rates - I can figure something out.
On that note, here is some Preons, which was an unfortunately short-lived project involving cheddar, King Prawn and myself. Contains plenty of ROOT NOTE, FUCK: http://soundcloud.com/fivestringcult/preons-track-1
not nearly enough i still love that "jazzy" buildup thing in the second half of that song (putting "jazzy" in quotes to pre-empt chronowarp)
The part with the side-stick? Yeah, shit was so cash. I love when the drums open back up just as I come down to play in the lower octave and the second synth comes in. Perfect moment between everything that's going on there.
Hey, i came up with some vocals for that track Send me a wave, Dan, and I'll record it! Not sure it's usable, but still fun to do!
Far as I'm concerned, be my guest dude. Dunno if Armang is still up for putting a mix together for it but have a chat with him!
