Holy shit. It's like Kraftwerk meets Gary Wilson to have sex in Alan Vega's bedroom while Videodrome runs on the TV in the background. The lyrics concern the internet, post-modern literary theory and the heterosexual matrix. Give this guy a shot... or he'll buy one for you.

The closest contemporary equivalent would probably be Girlseeker. I really love this new scene that's starting to develop.

i hate to go on a whiny rant (but i'm going to because i am drunk and also because i don't give a fuck), but this forum is on a huge decline in my opinion in terms of people actively seeking out new music. and not just my recommendations, but in general. two years ago this thread (and similar ones) would have had at least 6 or 10 comments by now. people would have listened to the above clips, some would have downloaded or streamed, and a couple would have fallen in love and spread it to others. that's how shit like the first bon iver album got huge (now the dude just won a grammy, wtf). this forum (and its previous incarnation) used to thrive from random threads about random artists (how did we all fall in love with things like thrice, agalloch, protest the hero, esoteric, henry cow, pineforest crunch, yndi halda, and dozens and dozens of others?). but now no one cares (i am not blameless in this). no one cares about threads unless it is about a band we already know. this is sad. honestly, it is a huge reason i have stopped posting here frequently (i know no one cares) and have stopped responding to threads. i feel like it used to be a very communal experience, wherein people shared tastes and new things, but now it is just a big circle jerk. i am in no way asking for everyone to fall in love with the fucking harvey averne barrio band (although if you listened, chances are that you would), but to stop being such fucking cunts and a) posting shitty threads about shit no one cares about (new dream theater album, which sucks, you're wasting your goddamn time, there is so much good music out there), and b) reading those same threads.

that rant was likely not composed properly, and will likely ferment some resentment towards me, and that's okay. i used to come here to genuinely look for new music that i would love (and to share the same), but that is unfortunately not that case anymore, at all. there are much better sources now, which is sad, because i used to feel some sort of common identity with this place because of the musics we would share with each other. i think there are only a very small handful of people who still care about music passionately (and of which i still follow and listen to their recommendations), but in general, 5/8 is not a place to come if you are looking to good music that you have not yet come across.

wow, a lot of close-mindedness in this thread. yeah, i like this stuff, so what? i can see how the vocals would put some people off, but there's no denying that this guy is a great keyboardist and performer, with a taste for the absurd. and i'd like to see tyke or uncle damfee step behind a screen and switch costumes in just a couple of seconds without messing the entire show up.

i take it you (tyke) don't like feralcore either?

Totally missed this installation until now. Dada improvisation with deeply sexual undertones set to rockin' minimal wave, just the way I like my Howard's Dilemma.

I'm glad to see the enthusiasm some have exhibited here for Howard's Dilemma. I am the other founding member of HD. We started as a two member keyboards band focusing on live performance and theatrics. We did indeed play at a few assembly's at Friends Central school in the Philadelphia area circa 1998. Captain Rex (not named Howard) and I decided to part ways over creative differences, but he continued to perform HD as a solo act, pre-recording all of the music, and spending countless hours rehearsing, blocking, and performing for the stage. He performed for approximately 2 years all across the country at small bars/performance spaces/parties, etc... from 2006-2008. He was very dedicated until deciding to end the Howard's Dilemma project in 2009. Sadly, Captain Rex passed away at the age of 30 in April, 2012. Howard's Dilemma was his passion for many years, for me as well, and we had a lot of fun along the way. Some of you are spot on that his major influences were Kraftwerk, Blue Man Group, Rammstein, and others.

In 2001 we recorded and produced our first album, Take My Hand, which features 12 tracks. This album is not available to the public, but after seeing some positive response on this forum I would be happy to mail a copy of the CD to anyone interested. Prior to this, we recorded 4 albums when we were young teenagers on an old cassette player, which, based on sound quality and overall musical quality I am unable to share.

Thank you guys for your posts, whether positive or negative, it's nice to see after all these years that Howard's Dilemma is still kicking around the 'net.

No lie, it was probably the best show I have ever seen because of where it was located, (halfway through a death metal show), and he gave me a plastic apple that still smells like his fog machine.
