For your weight loss/general nutrition. And how much is it OK to drink per day, if you also clock like an hour in at the gym.
I don't know man but I stopped drinking from february to june last year for meds and I lost a stone just like that.
Shit. Seriously though, I've heard Beer is fucking terrible for your weight and also slows the rate your muscles recover. If I have two beers a nite am I basically cancelling out the 30 minutes of cardio and 30 of weights that I've been doing every day? Help me PIMP B or I'm just gonna quit red meat instead
I've been drinking 2-3 beers average an evening for a few months and I feel fairly confident that it's why I have been having shitty workouts and really not losing weight. However, it's summer and I'm not working and it's been fucking hot so I haven't felt like stopping. Edit: I also tend to drink IPA and lagers like Beck's/Grolsch, so I think calorie content is higher than Bud light garbage.
Why drink any of it at all? Beer is for white trash and people who watch sports for entertainment which are pretty much the same thing anyways.
Cal in>Cal Out=you fat Cal in<Cal Out= less fat Beer has almost as many calories as Mountain Dew (my blood is 30% mtn dew), which means if you aren't already paying attention to your overall intake it's probably going to significantly contribute to the excess that will make you a fatty. Your "nutrition" is dictated by the balance of macro/micro nutrients that you consume on a regular basis, you fat piece of shit. So, drink whatever you want...exercising is going to burn calories regardless of whether or not you choose to drink a beer at the end of the day. If you only burnt 120 calories all day, then, ya, a beer might negate all of your intense physical work.
What about the effect any kind of liquor has on your metabolism? Isn't it more than just a simple equation?
probably the best article i've seen on the subject: http://www.leangains.com/2010/07/truth-about-alcohol-fat-loss-and-muscle.html
I wonder how weird it would look to be on the treadmill at the gym and instead of a water you just pop open a beer.
ok bro listen hard. alcohol effects protein synthesis and turns muscle into fat. wat you want to do is take 2 protein shakes 60 grams of protein each with 5 grams creatine each. when ur out mix it with the beer. this will negate the affect the beer has on protein synthesis and will block cortisol temporarily. 30-50 press ups before you go out (u should be doing this anyway to get a pump on) and 20 chin ups when u get in so u don't get imbalances. then as soon as you go to bed put youreself on an IV drip of milk protein and waxy maize.
I've been drinking mostly whiskey this year and find that I can still lose weight...the weekends that I enjoy beers I sort of stall...don't know if that's scientific but it's good enough for me to stick to liquor for now. The problem is my tolerance has gone to shit and I drink whiskey way faster than beer...it gets me in trouble sometimes.
about as gay as that miller 64 commercial where the guy rides a stationary bike to burn off the calories between beers
i feel beer has an adverse effect for building muscle. the key is to eat lots of food (preferably meat) to grow in size and then quickly lift some weights (do you even lift btw) to turn all that fat from the meat into muscle. i don't think that strategy works very well with beer
It's not the beer but the alcohol that is to blame. Read this: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/06/110609112901.htm
lol @ "boosts health" I think everybody knows that most of the calories in beer are in the alcohol, not the carbohydrates, right?
I find it fascinating that Guiness is the healthiest beer. But apparently darker beers are better for your health than lighter ones.
I've really cut back on drinking since college (where I drank a lot, and almost every day) and I'm in much better shape. I really enjoy the taste of many alcoholic beverages but I rarely feel the need to drink more than 2 or 3 drinks, one or two nights a week, anymore.
Since I started drinking a lot again in July I've gained back 10-12 pounds from the 70 I lost the first six months this year. I don't think drinking per se is bad in moderation, just the increased propensity to want to eat shitty food after drinking. This summer it was common for me to pick up a small bag of Combos on the way home.
Lol. I used to drink way more in college, and was way skinnier. Yay women. I'm trying to stick at least to red wines (cab sauvs), instead of beer, but its so hard sometimes! Beer is just so tasty. At least I only drink on weekends, for the most part.
I worked at a bar like 6 months ago and there was one girl who was sort of a regular. Bitch is there like EVERY DAY now having like 2-3+ beers, not counting what she has elsewhere. Ran into her recently and girl is straight up on some status. Had to have gained at least 20-30 pounds.
Most of the calories in alcoholic drinks come from the alcohol itself, so wine isn't really any better for you than beer (or liquor) in terms of weight.
I'm not going to stop drinking altogether, and from what I hear, certain liquors and dry red wines are at least the lesser evils.
well there's more calories per ml in wine or vodka, but obviously you drink less at a time regardless, it's all very high cal, so don't think you're doing any "good" by drinking a ton of vodka/sodas.
If a shot is around 2 ounces, then yeah. Actually in the states - do you get 2 ounces when you say shot? Here you get 30 ml, which is marginally more than one ounce.
