This is a really useful feature, but I think it would be even more useful if it were restricted to the forum you're making a thread in. So, for instance, if I'm in music discussion, then I'd only see similar threads from music discussion, since those are the ones likely to be relevant. Same for every other forum.

I've always wondered just how it does its search... sometimes I put in something EXACTLY like what's in the title of a thread I'm looking for but jack shit comes up ("no topics found"). Might have to do with non-letter characters, capital letters, or both.

    Anyhow I support this idea.

The only time this would fail is if the similar threads in question were created before the subforums were created.

Like, say a thread on "___ TV Show" was in GD in 2007 and is like 12 pages long and definitive as far as discussion on the show goes. This thread wouldn't appear now if someone were to try and make a thread about that show in ACL, at least not under the parameters you're talking about.

Even considering, I don't think it'd matter since a thread that old is outdated anyway, but it does happen and might be worth considering.

All in all I support the idea :tup

Yeah, I thought of that, but as you noted, that only affects outdated threads so it's not a big deal.

Yeah, but it still leads to people making "there wasn't a thread on this" threads.

Which I guess ultimately doesn't matter.
