First trailer is up... http://www.guildwars2.com/en/ I lose interest in games very quickly these days, but since Guild Wars is the only MMORPG I've invested a lot of time in I'll be giving this a shot regardless.
Thankfully the storyline for the first one was bad enough that i don't care how bad this one looks to be. Environments still look gorgeous. Definitely interested in this, i think it has a lot of potential to improve upon the original.
Yeah, I can't say I paid that much attention to the story of the first game, it was all pretty cheesy and silly. I just hope there's more stuff like Factions and less like Nightfall.
For me this is the only MMO worth playing. All the other grind-fests get boring after a month, this was actually fun to play and retained more of the RPG elements instead of just the leveling, it made it more like you play a single player in coop.
I've been following this and I missed the trailer till now :O cunt. Anyway, it looks cheesy as fuck, awesome scenery as usual, generally awesome. Can't wait, I clocked about 800 hours on GW1, loved that game. There is a lot of speculation and things like that on this site; http://guildwars.incgamers.com/
Yeah Ill be getting this regardless of the trailers and as long as the level cap isnt ridiculously high.
Sweet hat, bro. I played Guild Wars for a while, then sold my shit for D2 items. Not bad at all, for free nonetheless. Might look into this, but probably won't get it since I don't want to get sucked into anything really until D3 (lol 2011)
The scenery in GW was beautiful in places, especially pre-war Ascalon and Shiverpeaks area...so hoping that GW2 looks absolutely stunning for an MMO. It sure is no lolcraft
I've got about 3000 hours on GW1. Completely ruled my life for 2 years during secondary school, since I didnt have to require on luck for good equipment like diablo.
http://www.shacknews.com/article/68495/guild-wars-2-beta-later BETA Q3/4 Its going to coincide with diablo 3 beta
Will be playing beta this weekend. My past guild told me to pick world:EU Fissure of Woe. World change costs in game money and is only every 7 days. Worlds were only EU and NA. Hope Japanese characters are not banned from names because I am a weaboo and wanted some chinky names
Cannot wait to get home and play this beta today. I've been turning a blind eye to the game's development so it'll be a bit of a surprise for this weekend.
I will be playing in a few hours hopefully. Servers keep getting overloaded/booting people off though How so?
I don't know what to say. Felt like I did when I first played GW1 - no idea what the fuck I was doing. Just going to bullet point my thoughts. I played mesmer to level 12. Lack of healing skills makes it harder to solo than group. Its basically kill them before they kill you. Once an enemy is aggroed on to you, I couldn't find a way to get them to attack another party member. Its quite annoying as a caster having to pull a group and then having 2 warriors chasing you for the whole battle. Normal enemies tended to do damage equal to 10% of my max hp; the bosses could hit for 40-80%. If you do get a group, don't count on any coordination, I couldn't find a way to ping a target like you could on GW1. The radar was useless, enemies and allies did not show up on it. If I attacked a group of enemies slightly bigger than my party it was almost impossible to kill them. Resurrecting takes about 10 seconds and you have to touch the character to do it. This meant it was often better to just die and retry a battle. If your party wipes, NPC corpses remain in place, and don't resurrect at the way-point of your choosing. When you are soloing, this can mean a mission has to be restarted because the mobs can't be killed without NPC help. The skills system was interesting once I got the hang of it and realised you're supposed to keep switching weapons throughout combat so you're not waiting on skills recharging. Felt really weak when I wasn't using the right weapon type though(for those that don't know, your first 5 active skills are determined by the type of weapons you are holding). I'm not sure how many skills are available, but if those are the only ones I fear its going to have the same problem as D3(doesn't feel rewarding to level up). There was about 30 skills determined by weapon type, then another 40 or something that were independent of weapon but they were all utility and looked shit. The random quests were good! Most of the time it was just defend a location, kill some enemies, or rescue somebody, but you get gold Feels more like a proper MMO with other people running about in the wild, other than your party. I played everything solo but it was nice to do some random quests with people I wasn't partied with and I look forward to playing the game with my previous guild. Local chat was empty....weird considering there were lots playing I didn't get a chance to explore the economical side. Seems like there was a few different crafters, 2 currencies, and some random merchants around. It cost money to map travel...not sure what the point of this is. The farther you traveled the more it cost. Don't see it being a problem once you get past the start of the game though. Cutscenes were replaced by a screen with an animation of each character talking, and subtitles....
My only problem during the beta was the goddamn overflow servers, which constantly separated me from my party members. It took hours before I could rejoin them. This is something they'll presumably fix before launch, though.
Yeah I was surprised considering the town areas weren't exactly overflowing with people anyway. Thought they would have had more servers up. It would have been nice to see my ping too, I always seemed to rubber band when I got knocked down.
http://www.guildwarsinsider.com/krewe-guild-wars-2-mmo-busy-adults/ good read and just some of the reasons why GW2 will be better than WoW and every other pay to play or pay to win MMO
Been playing a lot since headstart began, level 15 sylvari elementalist. WvW is so fucking fun. I'm on isle of janthir
Yeah i've been playing a lot of it. Level 11 human necromancer and as of right now a level 7 asura thief. Not sure which I enjoy more so far, but definitely having a good time in the game.
Got a guardian to level 6. So far its much more fun than the mesmer was in the beta. I don't think I'll be getting this, purely because I see this taking enormous amounts of time to reach max level. I'll end up behind my guild and my general skill level will suck because I'll only have 1 or 2 hours a day, then a few on the weekend. I want to say though that the 'random' encounters are such a good feature in the game. Never once felt like a chore to do which is so good for an MMO style game.
People have weird mindsets about games like these, probably because of what came before. Why care if you are going to be behind anyone's skill level? Why not just play and enjoy it 1-2 hours a day for a while until you have had your fill? Why do people refuse to judge or play a MMO in the same way they would any other game? I blame meta game fags mostly, yes that means everyone but me.
My guild is setting up shop on Maguuma right now. Server transfers are free, if anyone is looking for a server feel free to come join us, we could always use some more.
Currently playing a warrior because I'm a vanilla faggot. I really like this, though. It's so pretty and the dynamic events and stuff rule.
Probably gonna pick this up soon, transfer my Necro or Mesmer from the first game over and have at it. Looking forward to losing a whole heap of time over this.
thinking of getting this tonight. I had just resurrected my WoW account (but only paid for 1 month so far). I was playing WoW last night and it was kind of 'meh' and then I watched some GW2 vids on YT and was blown away by how cool it looked. The combat looks like tons of fun.
My account name is: kidgloves.2760 add me as a friend if you like. I've been switching between my necromancer and my thief a lot. I think I'm going to settle on mostly playing the thief as I enjoy it a little bit more.
