Holy FUCK, tonight's episode. Tyrion and Arya both got moments to be tremendously clever, and while Tyrion's was more fun to see play out, Arya's was more important/impressive. So goddamn quick on her feet. Love it.

Natalie Dormer is too old to play Margery, but it's nice to get to see her topless again (without shirt, not without head, as she was both in The Tudors).

I haven't seen Dormer in anything else before and liked her immediately. Dat gown. I also find her crooked mouth strangely appealing.

Best episode of the season so far.

I'm pretty annoyed that it will be Sir Amory Lorch taking Arya and crew to Harrenhal and not The Mountain.

Might have something to do with the fact they had to recast the Mountain? The original guy got the role of Azog in the Hobbit so had to pull out. Maybe they're giving the Mountain a smaller role
and then maybe reintroduce him slowly so people don't realise he's been changed, and then when he takes a more prominent role no one will know? lol

It is a shame though cos he's obviously a big part of Harrenhal and Arya's prayer. I'm sure we'll see him when they get to Harrenhal though...

Really liked this episode. Yoren's moment with Arya before the end was great, and Tyrion is just tearing shit up. Margaery did not disappoint either.

That I did not know. I have been absolutely on board with every change they've made, from the books, so far. However, this change might really screw up how the audience views Gregor Clegane.

So is it pretty much open season in this thread as far as talking about things from the books that haven't happened in the show yet? :\" title= Or was it mentioned in the show that Arya and crew were being taken to Harrenhal, and I just missed it? It's a small detail either way, but eh.

Also, I'm kind of disappointed by that... I was looking forward to seeing Arya reunite with Jon at the Wall!

You can't expect people to totally separate a TV show from its source material. It's not realistic. Like I said, for the most part I've embraced all of the changes made thus far, this was the first time I've been even mildly concerned.

I DO expect that people will take the TV show as it is. Constant comparison is pointless, expecting them to say 100% faithful to the source material is pointless. GRRM said there are some things being put in the show that he changed from the books. I don't see why being like OMG IT'S DIFFERENT LUL is necessary.

And I have done just that, up until now. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with a little bit of comparison.

People who insist that others NEVER compare the show to the books are infinitely gayer than the people making the comparisons. Just saying.

fucking hell how does each episode manage to outdo the last?

everything they've changed so far, has obviously been done to condense things, and so far i think they've done a good to greatjob with it.

Brienne is awesome. they definitely managed to uglier her up enough.

Maergery is awesome. and fucking daaayuuum. this part i thought was an especially good change, because it's very probably what actually would have had to happen in the books, there was just no POV to convey it. it came across very honest and real.

yay Summer (and has anyone else noticed that they hven't mentioned his name yet?)

    Iron Islands were good.

watching it again Sunday, can't wait.

I seriously pictured Brienne much uglier, she's not even that bad in the TV show

And fuck me in the ass, Maergery is fucking HOT. I would say she's even hotter than Daenerys which was number 1 for me

yeah, but the number of giantess actresses is probably rather small, so you do what you gotta do.

i think her manly strides and gruff countenance make it work.

    also
it seems as if they are minimizing Gregor's role for now and installing Tywin at Harrenhal in his stead. they will probably recount horrific tales of reaving to instill hatred for him from afar instead of hands on like in the book, but if they had to recast him, that's understandable.

Yeah I saw in an interview with Maisie Williams that she apparently has a bunch of scenes with Tywin this season, so I expect that they not only removed the Mountain, but also Roose Bolton from her story in Harrenhal, perhaps essentially replacing the presence of both with Tywin.

I'm not really the kind of watcher that cares much about the changes the show makes--they shows and books are quite separable in my mind--so I'm actually really looking forward to scenes between the two of them, but yeah it is a bit of a change.

Why are they getting rid of Roose Bolton though? No casting issues and someone who becomes a major character later on?

Yeah he was cast, which I had forgotten, so I suppose he will be there.

But so will Tywin. Not sure what to expect exactly...

I was just looking at wikis for the books and according to them:
In Clash of Kings Amory Lorch does lead the attack that kills Yoren and captures Night's Watch recruits, so that part is right. I can't remember when Arya encounters the Mountain. Does Lorch's group meet up with Gregor's group later? Because in the show that could still happen could it not?

yeah I refreshed my memory some more and apparently the escape at first but are caught by Gregor in the next town over which is where all the torture stuff happens. It looks like in the interest of time they just cut right to the chase and had them get captured in the initial attack and are probably going to do the torture scenes either on the way to or at Harrenhal

Watched all the new season eps again, and here are some thoughts

    - im pretty sure you noobs got your first mention of Dorne/the Martells in the most recent ep, apart from "Dornish wine", correct?
my favourite of the great families, I think

    - maisie williams is a champion
    - aiden gillen appears to have been affecting an English accent in the first season, and is pretty much using his natural voice now, or am I hearing things?
    - the most minor of book spoilers really only spoil wrong it to be safe, relating to my opinion of the change from the books in one scene
in the books, arya is way more badass in that scene and yoren is way less badass, from my recollection, anyway
