#fiveeight IRC Chatroom v. official stroker quotes thread

We have a chatroom, #fiveeight on Quakenet. To get to it, either click the IRC tab in the navigation bar, or follow the following steps:

1. Get an IRC client
The most popular client is mIRC, which can be found at http://www.mirc.com . Download, install, and open it. If you have a mac, google mac irc client or something.

2. Connect to QuakeNet
To do this, type /server irc.quakenet.org or go to File-Select Server and select QuakeNet from the drag-down server list, then hit the yellow connect (lightning bolt) button.

3. Join the Five Eight Channel
To do this, type /join #fiveeight

4 (optional). Register with the server
To do this, type /msg Q hello youremail youremail . Further instructions will be provided by the server.

A. They're channel operators, the IRC equivalent of mods. They have the power to kick and ban people along with some other powers.

Q. What is a kick?
A. A temporary boot from the channel. Most IRC clients allow you to auto-rejoin when kicked.

Q. What is a ban?
A. It's like a kick except you can't come back. At #fiveeight it's almost never permanent, but may last a long time.

Q. I got kicked! What do I do?
A. Cry about it.

Q. I got banned! What do I do?
A. If you feel your ban was undeserved, PM me at 5/8. If your ban was deserved, cry about it.
