Remember when we used to have these, and how much fun we had with the couple we did? Well I propose we do another! This month! Is anyone down?
I mean, it's pretty simple but there's nothing wrong with that. I don't want a track that modulates 7 times just to make things harder on everyone. Plus it's nice and short.
Yeah it works. I've never played or improvised over any type of modes, so could be fun. (....I don't think I've ever played to a backing track either... except some DT songs back in the day) I think I'll wait and see what people post, so I don't look like a complete ass
Code: E ------------------------------4-7- B -------------------------4-7----- G -------------------4-6----------- D -------------4-6----------------- A -------4--6----------------------- E--4-7------------------------------ just use that scale.
sort of defeats the purpose in the sense that the point, at least IMO, of these things is to have everyone coming from the same position so that it's easy to springboard ideas off one another, and discuss approaches & struggles to whatever that specific type of backing offers. To me these threads are never about "lol listen to me play a guitar solo" and more about challenging yourself to be creative over something you're being forced to play over, rather than choosing something that is comfortable and easy for you to play over. Which is also why I want to shoot for jazz backings, something that you actually have to work on to play over rather than 1 chord vamps, and "fusion" backings that are just I-IV-V's.
Word up, i feel that. Well the lydian thing had me doing stuff some that i'm not totally used to, so i'm pretty cool with that. It actually has a pretty strong Zappa vibe too, coincidentally. I'm all for some standard jazz backing tracks too, as jazz is all i've been playing and trying to learn lately, and i'm very much in the beginning stages of it all.
I'll do this. We should put someone in charge of putting this together every month. It's good practice and forces me to do shit.
