please tell me there's a way to disable the facebook-like chat thingy on the bottom.
Sure, you can hide it but can you also include an option to turn it off altogether? It's really bothering me.

There will be an option in your settings shortly to disable it entirely.

it's just that I've never really used the IRC chat in the past and i don't see myself chatting with anyone here since I have facebook open all the time anyway.

It's just kind of distracting...even hidden. That little arrow on the right that follows you everywhere. Fuck that shit.

It can be cool, though it screws up a lot when lots of tabs are open, and that's how I always use 5/8. I'd love it if there was a quick button to turn it on and off, not buried too deep in the settings, where the hide button is would be perfect tbh. Cool feature anyhow.

I think, as more an extension of this idea or to allow people weirded out by other people on the internet to have some space, you should be able to have an option that filters your own chat availability to people you personally follow (your "friends").

In other words, you should have the option to only be viewable (as "online") only to people you follow if you want.

Then, of course, for fags like Saber, you can still have the ability to turn it off altogether.

That's pretty weird. When I'm following somebody, I'd prefer if they did not see me.

Having it be friends list only was the original plan, but none of them got imported for some reason. I think it's cause the friend list we used was an afterthought vB plugin and not standard...

you idiot, I didn't make this request out of privacy reasons but simply because the interface feels overblown and I'd hope it would run somewhat smoother without the pretty useless chat.
