    This couldn't be more appropriate.

Could be the new MMO Blizzard are working on... Diablo III? :p

Yeah, I dunno...someone else said the other runes were from WoW, but the one surely looks like a Hel Rune. Blizz does like to carry over themes/items/etc between their games, so maybe they're some new runes in the Diablo universe. Although apparently WotLK is going to be set in Northrend (I assume an icy place, hence the blue/ice in the picture) it's already apparent that the new expansion is being released, so why would they have a teaser about it?

There is still speculation that it is something Diablo related. People are finding rune symbols in picture. Particularly the shael rune and some other one I forgot.

There's a lot of wild rumours out there at the moment, even ones like a series crossover.

I don't see a shael, but I definitely see a hel top right of center

Another rune has appeared, resembling something from the Starcraft universe.

At this point I'm guessing an entirely new game altogether.

There is no game I would want more than a genuine Diablo III that lives up to the previous games. Titan Quest was okay, but lacked the doom and gloom atmosphere, and the item distribution didn't appeal to me as much. That Hellgate London game was not worth remembering.

Actually, I can't decide if I want this more or less than Elder Scrolls V.

Wow. EXACTLY my thoughts. Making Diablo into an MMORPG would be a fucking disaster IMO.

I wouldn't even buy it. I hate MMORPGs because they are:
A: Full of dickheads who would rather interfere with my ability to progress in the game than play the game themselves
B: Full of losers who want to hook-up with their fantasy "gamer girls" in hang-out spots instead of actually playing the game.
C: Full of idiots who have been educated in English at their private schools yet nonetheless choose to abandon it for gibberish.

Same reason I quit playing on battle.net with D2, and will only play single-player or with people I know.

Blizzard said recently that they are announcing a NEW GAME at the World Wide Invitational this weekend. Not another announcement about Lich King or Starcraft II, but a completely new game.

    Diablo 3? Hopefully!

fantastic news. The Diablo games were/are Blizzards crowning achievement IMO (just barely edging out Starcraft/Warcraft)

Blizzard is a company. Companies want money. The Diablo franchise made a lot of money.

    I really can't see how they wouldn't make a Diablo 3.

Diablo 3 would get me into MMORPGs if it so happened to be one.

Hopefully I would be able to hold off starting until after I make sure to graduate college though :glee

    Yup.

They should just make a game with both single and MMO options, sort of like what D2 was (I know it wasn't MMO but you get the option of playing with a lot of people and I can't see an MMO being too different).

It's unlikely Diablo III will be a MMO. Considering it would cannibalize into WoW's fan base significantly. It's much more likely to be a heavily instanced game, like Guild Wars or...Diablo II?

Also, omg it's Diablo III holy fucking shit. :yay

This makes me want to play Diablo II again.

You could probably get away with skipping the original, since it's so old and crusty, but it will make your Diablo 2 experience a lot more rewarding.

Yeah, I'd skip right to DII.

I've had to buy it again recently because my old edition has the cd key scratched off. So I'll probably start playing it again as soon as it arrives. :hyper

I got that too a few months ago. I had only really played the original once or twice so I was excited to give it a shot. I think I have played it for a total of 15-20 minutes. Most of which consisted of me slowly walking around wishing I could run.

    I will play D3 regardless.
D1 was all about atmosphere...it was awesome, but also slow.
D2 is one of the best games ever created, and has drawn me back in so many times it's ridiculous. I want it to be Saturday so I know what the fuck this teaser is about.

Original Diablo was intense, and for its time, it wasn't bad in terms of graphics. There was a real sense of dread and danger, and in fact your character was rarely a walk in the park. Diablo II has a lot more action and of course you can run rather than walk all the time, but there are builds in each class that are pretty much nobrainers.

Like a true sequel, however, Diablo II expanded on the world and the storyline of the original, and did so very well. It definitely was not just more of the same. I've love to see a Diablo III that compares to Diablo II the way D2 improved on the original. Real 3D, juicier graphics, etc.

People complaining about the original? Blasphemy! The original is so fucking amazing. I have played through it three times, on both the PC and the PS1. I haven't beaten the second one yet...which makes me out to be an idiot. But, with the third coming out, I have even more incentive to get through it. Thank God I'm going to be getting a new computer in the next year. Starcraft 2 and a possible Diablo 3 would be so damn epic.

It's history; the company making it went under and they couldn't be arsed continuing production in-house, or something along those lines.
