Watched that earlier, and that guy does not do the guitar any justice. They should have gotten Devin to show it off.
Yeah, but Devin would have been all like 'I made all these ridiculously amazing tones with my AxeFX that you'll barely be able to replicate, bitches!'
I personally really like The New Black. Seems like a nice sound that's in between his usual SYL stuff and his solo stuff. I probably like it a bit more than any of the other SYL stuff. And I know I Like it more than Physicist. I think it is pretty under appreciated, too.
The New Black is my favorite SYL album after Alien. Sure, it's not as intense as Alien or City, but it's got some absolutely great metal songs on it.
The self titled is obviously the most underrated SYL album. I love it so much, people seem to shit on it though I don't understand Also: never got into Alien all that much
Hey Melbourne (and Sydney) friends: http://www.soundwavefestival.com/ab...d-project-meshuggah-dredg-sidewaves-announced
The ST kicks all kinds of ass! It really has some of the best SYL stuff on it. I remember we listened to it on the way up to wrist fracture mountain.
3 New Albums ...well, 2 that we know of already, Epicloud and Z2, but the new one, Casualties of Cool also sounds pretty interesting. also, Deconstruction just got nominated for a Juno (Canadian Grammy). Given Dev's thoughts on the Canadian music industry (specifically the song Juno from the box set and the description he wrote for it in the liner notes), that could make for an interesting acceptance speech.
Didn't know about that Casualties of Cool thing, so I looked it up and found it here: http://www.heavyblogisheavy.com/201...unces-another-new-project-casualties-of-cool/ Sounds pretty awesome! Epicloud and that should be quite the one-two punch. I am really really sad to hear about Ghost 2, though... Not sure why that wouldn't get a release. The tracks we've got so far are amazing, and I think I might end up liking it better than Ghost. Really hope we get the rest of the tracks at some point in a decent enough form that we can make it ourselves...
Bummer indeed about Ghost, but an interesting insight. I feel like I can see where he is coming from completely with Casualties of Cool. He seemed like it really is getting to be a huge amount of work with the touring and projects and everything, but like he still really values those intimate and casual moments very much.
Man, with how much he heaps onto his plate I worry about him burning out. Seriously, how can a guy write so much music, record so many albums, play so many shows, and handle so much of the business side of his career on his own without getting seriously beaten up by it? Can't wait for the new records. Epicloud has long sounded amazing to me and this new one actually sounds a fair bit like something I'm trying to do myself at the moment.
Does anyone know if Moonshine from Ghost II ever made it onto the net? Wasn't that given to people at some concert or something? I was driving home from work today with Ziltoid blasting thinking the same thing to myself. The dude put out two albums last year, and now he says he's putting out two more this year? And Ziltoid 2 will likely be out next year? And Ghost 2 is floating around somewhere, but we'll likely be able to hear it? That's 8 albums since 2009. On top of that he had those big live shows and he's releasing live dvds of that and doing that big show this year. I don't know how he does it and I have no idea how he'll continue. Surely he can't keep up at this rate. He has to run out of ideas at some point! I really do hope he takes an easy break, but I kind of worry that he likely isn't making nearly enough money to do that.
he was doing fine before DTP became so popular. He's said that he's made way more money on DTP than he ever did with Strapping
is there any way to get the box set still? CM Distro says it has the box set in stock but that's only for Canada/the US. Anyway to get it to Australia? Amazon has it but I'm p. sure I'm paying double+postage if i buy it through them.
This is awesome. I wonder if he might tune it down an half or whole step so that it's easier for him to sing live. I wouldn't mind.
I love that version of Kingdom so much. If he can harness that level of energy in a re-recorded studio version i'd be happy as hell.
That would be an incredible feature for band threads on here, if official tweets appeared as posts or something like that.
