Ki = "I can make chaos like you've never heard, but for starters, please get comfortable." Also, I too think Disruptr is a pretty cool song. The only downside of the album is that it doesn't have an Earth Day type of song.
He seems like an awesome guy, and I'll definitely listen to more of Ki soon since I only listened to the first few songs. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the albums, Addicted in particular. I'm hoping for songs kind of like Life, maybe.
You know that song is probably his popiest/cathiest but still heavy, so an entire album of songs like that would make me very happy.
Don't know if it was mentioned but the female singer is Che Dorval. http://www.hevydevyforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=8141&p=192003#p192003
I'm on Disruptr, and I'm loving this album so far. Amazing, amazing stuff. (Count me as one of those who like Disruptr. And I like it A LOT). Also, when did the title of the 3rd album get changed from "Deconstruction of a Cheeseburger" to simply "Deconstruction"? I like the latter better, obviously, but when did that get changed?
Eh, I think he's just being objective about the fact that a lot of people are currently and will continue criticizing it because of the stylistic expectations. There are a lot of artists that are probably naive about their releases and always just assume that any criticism lodged towards them is in the extreme minority and that almost everyone love their work, even when the reality is quite to the contrary.
listend to this album again today, and it really clicked, absolutly loving the album now, it truly is a treat the softer songs are beautiful and great to sit back and relax to, then songs like gato and heaven send get you boping your head and singing along to with a heavier spin on things cant seem to get the female chours bits of gato and heaven send out of my head, they work so fluidly, and both tracks nicely trade off each other the one thing i dunno if im tooo fond of, it that bit where they stop playing and do a studio thing in Gato i think it is, but its not thaaat bad
i dont get it, i could understand you accepting its there and not minding it, maybe even thinking it fits well, but absolutely loving it? hooow? also, "Winter" is up there on the best song of the album list, beauty, dev never ceases to amaze me with his vocal delivery
Well, I also loved Devlab which had a lot of weird breaks and general oddness to it. Immmmmmmmmm gonna melt you guysssssssss.
Can you tell what the female vocals are saying in Heaven Send? This is what I can figure to the best of my understanding: How could Heaven be so fanatical You've got it with the fanatic Hope to but it how your sematic Hope to God it seems so funny Not correct by any stretch but thats what I hear. I need a lyric sheet ASAP.
I've had that in my head ALL DAY. And I love it. My take: How could Heaven be so fanatical You've got it with the fanatic Hope to body how your somatic Hope to God it seems so funny That makes no sense but I do hear "body" and "somatic", which do go together...
I think this makes a little more sense of it actually (barely): how could heaven be so fanatical you've got it with the fanatic hope to body how your somatic hope to God it seems so funny
I didn't think Townsend could make anything worse than Terria, Hummer, Ziltoid, Devlab, and Biomech, but I was wrong. Oh so wrong.
I think I might change my rating. 2 stars is a bit generous for this album. Seriously. And I actually enjoy some of Devin's solo stuff. But this, this is just awful to me. I can't remember the last time I was so bored by music.
yeah I thought "phonetical" on first listen, but then again "fanatical" makes more sense... and she is Canadian...
Devin: I appreciate the support even if you don't buy anything...truly, tell a friend I don't suck. Tell a friend I do suck, maybe they hate you secretly and will check it out based on that fucking lol http://www.hevydevyforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=8141&p=192732#p192732 Seriously, how awesome is this guy? Btw, turn the volume up while listening to Disruptr. 3:03 - awesome.
id rate this album higher then Infinity, Physicist, devlab, hummer, and within a few more listens it could pass out Synchestra AND Accelerated Evolution its a nice change from some of his other stuff, even when it slightly ventures into Synchestra teritory for a small bit during Ki the song, it almost feels out of place, no doubt this album flows smoother then some of his past albums i can understand the "boring" remark, on first listen i had it on in the background and it wasn't doing anything for me, but this is just one of those albums you have to give 100% attention to, you have to get inside it, rather than waiting for it to get inside you
weeeeeell ya know how some albums, the second you press play, they just assault your eardrums and you automatically have to take notice and then theres those albums that you have to take time to listen to carefully, to truly understand and 'get it'
Here's how I'd rate his solo albums: Terria Infinity Ocean Machine --- Ki Ziltoid Synchestra --- Accelerated --- Physicist Devlab Hummer Synchestra / Ki / Ziltoid are all very close, time will tell.
listening to this album right now... I like it a lot more, especially distruptr and gato - I guess listening with headphones while paying attention to the music really helped. Lots of nuances there.
So Ki is kinda good so far but after Trainfire I needed a pause. It's just too much too samey for the first listen.
