Trying to fill one of my external HD's with a bunch of documentaries/mockumentaries that leave you feeling kinda weeeeeird after watching them. I am not at my house to see exactly which ones I have but these are ones I can remember. Please post more if you know some good ones. Philosophy Of A Knife The Iceman Interviews Manson Jesus Camp Zoo Cropsey Catfish Hated The Killing Of America Until The Light Takes Us Crumb Triumph of the Will Night & Fog Spooked Pennhurst
Came in to post Night & Fog and see it in the first post. Oh well. Also, Until the Light Takes Us is a terrible film.
Man on Wire is pretty intense, though in ways that maybe you're not looking for. Even though you know they pull it off, you're still on the edge of your seat the whole time, for me that's a kind of intensity.
Capturing the Friedmans (can't recommend this more - THE creepiest) Dear Zachary anything by Louie Therox (more TV but still great watches - i recommend Weird Weekends...at least i think thats what the series was called)
Second vote for Dear Zachary. Emotional rollercoaster unlike anything. I've only dared watched it twice and it destroyed me completely both times.
Basically, but not "just." It's a good movie, and regarding this thread specifically it at least meets the "intense" criteria.
well i can't confirm to the world its THE creepiest, but it defiantly is creepy i dont know how to spoiler tag: that scene where the dad is sitting outside the courtroom and remarks to his lawyer "could you tell that father to stop bouncing his child up and down on his lap, its starting to give me an erection" is quite the creepy BUT IT ALLLL DEPENDS ON ONES DEFINITION OF 'CREEPY', MY GOOD CHUM!
Yes well, you know. It was great. But the film became more about defending Jesse and his father, and showcasing how awful the questioning process was.
Louis Theroux gets another vote from me. My particular favourites are the episodes where he meets the Westboro Baptist Church (The Most Hated Family In America, but I haven't seen the follow-up doco that just came out recently), meth in Fresno (The City Addicted to Crystal Meth), and incarcerated paedophiles (A Place for Paedophiles).
Some incredible recommendations in this thread, and loads of stuff I had never even heard of. Downloading Dear Zachary right now, it sounds brilliant.
