He didn't write the drum parts on the last album, so I'm sure they will be much better this time around.

edit: yeah, he just gigged with them I think

Well we already know they're recording the new album, and that it's going to be the prequel. Surely must be information about that.

Cobalt&Calcium is down right now anyways. :lol

I think he couldn't play on the album because of a contract with Relapse.

Wasn't it Taylor Hawkins doing the drumming on No World? I don't think he wrote the drum parts though, so fair enough that they weren't particularly memorable. Chris Pennie is pretty awesome though, so I imagine it'll be better this time around. I just hope the new one isn't as inconsistent as the last. No more gay songs like Justice in Murder kthxbai.

Jesus Christ thank you. Justice in Murder was awful and I had people tell me they loved it.

Also yes it was Taylor Hawkins.

nwft was an album I enjoyed when listening to it but not something I thought was that great in hindsight and not something I would go back to often

in the months leading up to the release I played the acoustic mother superior to death and I still prefer it to the original and it's probably my favorite thing related to the album tbh

I was in the crowd when he first played that song live. It had me so excited for the album and then when I got to hear the whole thing I just kinda went :/

    Oh the irony.

Anyway, there's a lot that I love about NWFT, but it just seems so inconsistent to me, it doesn't flow as well as the other albums, it has Justice in Murder (which sucks), The Road and the Damned (which I'm kinda indifferent to) and I thought the final track was kind of an anticlimax. That said, stuff like the title track, Hound of Blood & Rank, Mother Superior, Gravemakers & Gunslingers, The End Complete (the song) are all absolutely awesome. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

yesyeyes. Justice in Murder is definitely their worst song.

I haven't listened to NWFT in such a long time, and I'm always a little bit disappointed whenever I do listen to it. There's some great songs on there, but it just doesn't hold a candle to the other three.

    Hey Everybody,

Happy Holidays and all that. We know you have been waiting patiently for Coheed info for 2010, so we hope this fills your hunger for now:

Our new album will be titled, “Year of the Black Rainbow,” and is set for release in April 2010 and will be followed by a headline tour of the US, and then on to Europe and the UK for festivals and such.

As most of you know, the new album will be the “Origin Story” or “The Prequel,” and likely the final story of the ongoing concept story of “The Amory Wars”

With “Year of the Black Rainbow,” we will be releasing a deluxe package that includes a NOVEL OF THE SAME NAME. Not a graphic novel, but a full 300+page prose novel, which will tell the origins of Coheed and Cambria, and much more. There will be no mystery to this story, you will be able to explore it like never before. Presales will start near the end of December, exact date and pricing to be announced soon.

    Producing this record is:
    Atticus Ross http://www.ninwiki.com/Atticus_Ross
    And Joe Baressi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Barresi

They have helped us evolve our sound to be more powerful and dynamic than ever and we think it’s definitely our best work to date.
Some song titles are: “Here We are Juggernaut,” “The Broken,” “Pearl of the Stars,” and “Guns of Summer.”

Co-writing the book with Claudio is Peter David http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_David

The album will be released through Columbia Records/Sony in North America. For the rest of the world, Sony has licensed the rights to Roadrunner Records, who we feel will better make our music available in those territories, and opening up the potential for us to come to countries we rarely or never have been to before. We are very excited.

Can’t wait til you can experience it.
    Peace, Co&Ca

Also I wonder if they'll reference the number of the album in the title at all. Kinda weird since this rest did.

Hopefully this makes up for NWFT. That was a tremendous let down of an album, and it was an anti-climactic end to the saga....

I liked NWFT, but I agree with Devronius. Some incredible songs mixed with some of the worst songs they've written.

The content of the album was strong, but it wasn't nearly as epic as the two albums that preceded it. How you gonna end a series without teh epic?

Seriously, this. Very rarely does an artist start to suck and then pick themselves back up though. I don't expect much from Coheed now after NWFT.
