Yesterday i did some filming and live sound for a boxing dinner show, it was quite the occasion. I'd never really had that much interest in boxing but had attended a couple of shows that my mates had competed in and i remember that i enjoyed them.

I must say though, after the whole 2 and a half hours of watching guys slowly but surely destroy each other it had a wierd effect on me afterwards. I felt wierd, looking around and seeing guys in suits placing bets on grown men beating the hell out of eachother.

I don't think i'll ever be into boxing, are there many fans here?

Pacman versus De La Hoya this weekend. This should be a great fight. I'm pulling for Pacman, but if he doesn't pull it off then I don't think anyone will think less of him, considering the natural weight disadvantage.

I really don't know specific boxers or what championships there are, etc, but I'll watch a random boxing match from time to time.

Championships in boxing do not mean anything. There are too many competing organizations out there handing out belts. The Ring Magazine divisional and pound for pound rankings are widely considered to be the best rankings out there. Manny Pacquiao is the current pound for pound champ now that Mayweather Jr. is out, and he's a freaking beast. However, he's going up in weight several classes to fight De La Hoya. I'm going to try and find a bar that is showing the fight here on Saturday, and would recommend anyone interested in the sport to do so as well.

So many fighters with excellent chins are getting KTFO'd recently. It's making it more difficult to predict fights.

    Great fight though.

As much as I'd like to see Mayweather get put down, I want it to be Pacquiao that does it.

That was incredible, btw. I would now put my money on Mayweather if he fights Pacquiao. He seems to be just as fast and intelligent in the ring, plus a better defender and with height and reach advantage.

Eh, a lot of it will depend on what weight they fight at and if Mayweather actually makes that weight.

If they fight at 145, like in Pac vs Cotto, Mayweather will win.

The way I see it, the longer the fight lasts the more it favors Mayweather. The weight class is going to be a big issue, although I thought Floyd always fought at pretty low weight until he went against OdlH. I think now that he's been out of the game for a while he no longer wants to go down to less than 140, which really is the limit that Pacman should accept the fight. Anything higher and it is no good.
Now say they get down to 140 or less, I think Freddie Roach can develop a pretty good game plan to break Floyd's defenses, and Pac is wonderful at taking Freddie's directions.

I don't even know if this fight will get made, both fighters are going to think they deserve the majority of the purse, plus the weight issue...

Mayweather/Marquez got 1 million buys, the first time Mayweather got 1 million buys without Oscar. PPV revenue was $52 million.

I wonder how many buys Pacman/Cotto will get.

I love how people who said De La Hoya and Hatton were just too big and strong for Manny were proven wrong yet continued to use that reason as to why Cotto was going to beat him. What an absolute ass whipping, was great to watch. Hopefully Floyd is next. He's the only guy that can cause Manny problems from what I can see, Mosely maybe but I'd give Manny the edge in that one. With Floyd it's a 50/50, too hard to call.

So I'm pretty sure that this fight is going to happen, but a big question is where? Although Las Vegas is the leading candidate of course, I would like to see it take place in a much bigger venue...perhaps one with a huge television board and one hundred thousand seats...how about Cowboys stadium?
