My advice is to go to a local dollar store and pick up some $1 DVDs. They take ANYTHING that is commercial, original art/box, and NOT porn.

No, I don't wanna necessarily take advantage of the system, I really do have a ton of DVDs that I wouldn't mind getting rid of because I never watch anymore. It'll make moving way easier.

It's this thing that pops up on blu-rays quite a bit lately. You turn it on and during the movie you'll get pop-up trivia and behind the scenes stuff.

    GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE

If you buy any of the X-Men movies, any of the Alien movies, I-Robot, Last of the Mohicans, or Knight and Day at Best Buy ...

    1) They are 10 bucks a piece (and the X-Men movies are Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo packs)
    2) They include $10 MOVIE CASH to see PROMETHEUS

I had a reward certificate so I got the first X-Men movie combo pack + Prometheus ticket for FIVE DOLLARS.

Picked up Gran Torino and Limitless used today, came to £13 for the two of them. Haven't seen Limitless yet, so that should be cool.

Also, I've just discovered that if you eject one DVD from the set, it'll let you put another in and bump you straight to the main menu rather than making you sit through any of the opening logos etc, which is pretty cool I guess if you're having a marathon watch... which I did on Sunday.

    lol @ Bond 50

Half of the supplements from Ultimate Edition DVDs missing, unwieldy book packaging that will scratch your discs, "open slot for Skyfall" and then subsequent movies will be outside the boxset anyway, no booklets/trivia for each movie

Besides the picture quality, the set is inferior to the Ultimate Editions in every way. Add onto that the fact that 13 of the movies already have standalone Blu-Ray releases, and this set is not that enticing for most Bond fans who have multi-dipped on the movies anyway.

Admittedly I know very little about Bond, I just figured most people here would be interested. I've only seen the two newest ones (I can't wait for Skyfall though). It's on Amazon preorder for $186 right now, and I know Rita really likes the Bond films. I figure if anything it'll push me into finally watching them. A little over $10/movie isn't mad.

Edit: well shit, she just informed me she has the whole collection on DVD. This is me passing by.

This is available to stream on Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime, but if you want a physical copy, I suppose now's a good time.

For those who haven't seen it, get to it. It's the best World War II documentary I've seen.

In case anyone missed it: A restored version of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) is now available on Blu-ray. The original 65 mm negative was scanned at 8K and meticulously restored for a 4K digital master. If you're interested, the process is described here.

The restored version was shown in 4K in the theaters earlier this year. Sadly, I couldn't go, but I've heard from various people that it was incredible and bought the Blu-ray yesterday. It's amazing, definitely a new reference Blu-ray.

Best Buy is doing the same now too. They must be sick of B&N taking all the dough.

    -----

Also, ALIEN blu-ray is under five fucking dollars. If you do not have this movie in your collection after this sale you are a fucking piece of garbage.

i've never read the technical reviews for the non-U.S. Disney animation BDs, or read any side-by-sides, but I've heard in passing that they are mastered and authored by different companies and not subject to as detailed a process that the U.S. ones are

obviously still gonna be an improvement over DVD though
