Yeah. The first two best albums are The Silent Circus and Alaska, and the third best album is Colors.
I'm gonna give this album another go. Their vocalist killed me last time, back when it leaked. But then again, this was before I developed my massive boner for Meshuggah/Opeth
me too! especially how all the songs flow into one another. i like when bands do that. on that note, does White Walls have a lot of sections from earlier songs on the album? i kinda get that idea but i could be totally wrong. never got into their earlier stuff, maybe they're growers like Colors but i don't really care enough to give them the time. Glass Casket are basically what i wish early btbam sounded like
Strange that most people here no longer consider it their best album, considering the praise it was getting upon its release.
I think Colors is overrated too... a lot of people saying "progressive masterpiece" or "flawless album" and stuff like that, I disagree. but I still think it's BTBAM's best one. stuff like Mordecai and Selkies are a lot better than some of the parts on Colors, but since they're only single tracks on their respective album while Colors is the album itself, I ranked Colors higher. I think it's their best overall release.
I think Colors is a fucking stellar album, however, the s/t is probably like my 1, 2, 3....4th? Maybe? 4th favourite album ever.
There's a whole thread on their official forum about how White Walls is practically a summary of the whole album.
fuck yeah i was right! i remember listening to the album in bed and being like "hey, White Walls sounds made up for stuff from the rest of the album", but then i never heard anybody else talking about it so i assumed i was wrong
Oh yeah of course it has the same Virdian progression during the clean section before the breakdown too.
