I guess I'm lucky that the only beers I see around here that people go nuts for are KBS and Hopslam. Hopslam was hilariously easy and cheap this year, but I only managed to get 2 bottles of KBS. Oh well.

I know a local place got some CBS in stock when it came out, but it went too fast for me.

Local beer store said they got some Expedition Stout earlier, but I decided not to spend the little money I have on it. Good decision? y/n

No. If I had $50 every month to buy beer, I might spend a $40 of that on Expedition one month. It ages so well in the bottle. After a year it's incredible. The 9 month old bottle I had tonight was very, very good.

This calls for a singles pack duel *slaps with glove*(honestly i haven't had either in awhile, so i am kind of speaking out of my ass crack)

Currently drinking a Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager which is pretty tasty. Newish VA brewery. Also had a Stegmaier IPA earlier which was sub par but pretty cheap.

My buddy and I just picked up one of those. Also got the Expedition Stout, Sierra Nevada Hoptimum, Mikeller 19, Lagunitas Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and a couple more pretty rare ones.

The only way to find out is a blind side by side.

They're fun. We're going 6 porters blind at some point, all shelf beers here. The idea is to take the top 2 from there, put them up in another blind tasting in a few months against some other heavyweights, like Founders Porter and Fitz. The idea is to find the best porter.

I think Expedition was somewhere around 16, Hoptimum was 12 but only 4 bottles in the pack, Lagunitas WTF was 5, Mikeller 19 was 5.

Drinking a Heady Topper right now.

It's like there's a party in my mouth, and you're only invited if you're a hop.

Honestly one of the best beers I've ever had.

drank a Centennial IPA that was way past its prime last night...bought it in September. It was really hard to get down. Just a malt bomb. I was surprised just how unappealing it was.

This beer had everything. It was hoppy, bitter, with just a smidgen of citrus... but underneath all that it was a light porter at heart. It finished with a nice herbal smoke. The abv snuck up on me. By the time it got up to room temperature, it burned like liquor after all the taste was gone. Great stuff.

Found 5 Hopslams in the back of my fridge. Thought I only had like 1 or 2 back there. Pretty glad I didn't make an unnecessary trip to the liquor store earlier. \m/

    My facebook feed blew up.

There are former Michiganders in New York and Vermont who are like, "where is Oberon? I thought it was Oberon day?" Not acceptable to not know when you aren't in distribution limits for your "favorite beer."

Every day is Oberon day in Florida.

Year round status, motherfuckers! Yet, we just got our first shipment of Oarsman that I've ever seen about a month ago, and Oarsman is a better beer, IMO.

Recently discovered a local beer distributor that sells a Pennsylvania style lager for 10.60 for a 30 pack. It's 5 six packs put into a flat cardboard box like you see soup cans in at the supermarket. Surprisingly, it is 10x tastier than any of the other cheap beers around here and like 5 dollars cheaper. Life is good.

I don't like the idea of drinking beer from a snifter. It's beer, not liquor.

Many beer styles smell better in snifters rather than shaker pints, which were designed not to drink out of but to mix cocktails. So I'll take a big old snifter, or one of the cool 6 oz ones for tastings.

Drank a Mikkeler 19 tonight (19 different types of hops in it). Crazy smell but not too intense of a taste, though very hoppy. I'd say it's more drinkable than Hoptimum though.

Had Kulmbacher Eisbock last night. If you don't know, Eisbock is a bock beer that is partially frozen, and then the ice is removed. That concentrates it, so you get a dark, fruity lager of 9%+ abv. Really good and rich. Not cloying though, it was still drinkable. But you definitely got a little warmth, and I actually would have thought it was above 9.2%.
