The new track was pretty cool, although it definitely didn't top The Sweetest Curse. Still, . Can't wait for this to leak.
I don't care if this isn't ACL but Baizley's art needs some appreciation. You'll probably recognize at least one of these. Good mix of bands.
Again, sorry about this not really being related to the music itself but if you like Baizley's stuff check out Alfons Mucha. I love Baizley's art nouveau but kind of fucked up and surreal style.
BTW I never thanked you mastershake...so...thanks! o/ Also, I love how melodic and catchy this album is. It's still heavy as fuck and has some great riffs, but it's got a lot of harmonizing leads and the fuzzy guitar tone is so fucking good. Love it love it.
I'll just do what i always do and wait to buy it and hope i dont forget for a couple years downloading jerks
yes i hate those things to be sure. I stick to very limited styles of music and i only classify entire genres at once, and only in two categories: good and bad. It's like an on/off switch, and as such, i enjoy every band in the good category (ie: rock) equally, and hate every band in the bad category (ie: metal) exactly the same
This album tops anything I've heard so far this year by a LONG shot. I thought fucking Crack the Skye was good, this is infinitely better. Better than Red Album.
Crack the Skye pales in comparison to this masterpiece. Why it is only getting attention from like, three users here is beyond me.
Because Baroness is not nearly as well known as Mastodon. Like Torche, this band does not get even close to the amount of recognition it deserves.
It's sad that Mastodon is one of the weaker stoner/grunge rock bands out there, and yet everyone associates them instantly with being the leader of the genre.
I wouldn't call Mastodon one of the weaker ones, but they're not the best, either. They just have a lot of recognition because of their label, I imagine. Who knows. They deserve the attention they get, but Baroness deserves more. Torche is also great but I don't think that they're on the same level. Maybe.
Well yeah Torche definitely doesn't write songs that can compare to Baroness imo but they're still fun to listen to. Maybe I've just listened to way too much Mastodon over the years and gotten sick of them idk. btw toothy I just requested you as a friend on facebook
It's funny, because Baroness is on the same label that propelled Mastodon, Relapse records. Mastodon is on Reprise now.
HOLY FUCK on their headling tour in Florida, they're with Torche AND Pig Destroyer. Too bad they have no CT dates
They're coming to Philly in November but with no one of importance. I would love to see Torche again, as well as Pig Destroyer. Ah well, I'll still go for Baroness.
At first I thought this wasn't as good as Red Album. I was wrong.... VERY wrong. I can't stop listening to this, four times in a row now... it's soooo fucking good! /me loves some Baroness
I'm trying to listen to the new Porcupine Tree but all I can think about is going back to Baroness haha.
Once again the quality of this band's album outwork is much better than the than music they produce, (which isn't terrible or anything, but still).
This is the manliest record of the year so far, so I guess anyone who doesn't like it is either very unmanly or so manly that he needs nothing to compensate for any lack of manliness.
This album is awesome, so catchy and epic and it just plain fucking rocks. Very unique stylistically too, right on the border between rock and metal. It's like heavy stoner/southern rock with touches of techy metal and post-hardcore (or maybe just metalcore? things get a little hazy in that area for me).
