Just whipped this up over at RateYourMusic:

    5/5 stars

I'm aware that neither the editorial standard nor the style of the final paragraph are in line with the preceding ones, but I was having trouble ending the review, if anybody would like to make any suggestions.

This album deserves way more than 5 stars.

AS with pretty much every double studio album, this should've been a one single CD release, combining the best tunes

Then it would be a 6/5 album.

    What a fucking masterpiece

I can't come up with enough cuts to make it 1 CD, even taking out three songs.

Eh, the ending's fine. I always find it hard to end RYM reviews, but most of the time I'm rambling anyway.
Good review. I don't think I've ever looked up ItEC on RYM and I notice, at least on the first page, a massive amount of failure by other reviewers.

The more I think about it, cutting out the last mini-paragraph would be good. I like the bit about prog rock as a closer.

not bad, but it came off to me like you said "the VOCALS really pull this together!" .... "but really, it's ARJEN'S melodic constructs!"

...bart... but ESPECIALLY Lisa... but ESPECIALLY bart...

The structure isn't good. The first paragraph is too muddled, and almost all of it should be in later paragraphs. The first paragraph and the first sentence especially needs to sum up the following paragraphs. And the last paragraph then reitarestd the first paragraph with a concluding feel.

btw I dunno what I feel about this album. It has many amazing highlights (many of which you mentioned in the review), but I feel as a whole it doesn't quite sustain interest by maintaining flow (sorry buzz word).

I guess what I mean to say is that I find myself bored with about 60% of the album, but the other 40% is pretty amazing.

You still haven't even once said what's wrong with THE I don't think. It's by far Ayeron's best album, and that's the vast majority opinion. Deal with it or give me a good reason for hating it so much plz.

Modified/edited/updated. Should be different enough to be worth re-reading:

This album... is just.. TOO cheezy. I checked it out (with steve brule) But damn... i can't. I used to eat this shit for breakfast. Must be getting tired of prog. Those fucking voice interludes... holy shit.

That is one of my favorite albums, dunno why we were all supposed to grow out of progressive metal or something. I never got the memo and remain uncool :(

Also, the cheesiness bothers me LESS now than it did 10 years ago tbh. RE: THE vs. ITEC - THE loses much of the synthy spacey feel which i love, and i HATE the rhythm guitar tone on THE. The sense of epicness is dulled, and the short songs feel scattered and randomly placed, do not like the flow of the album. Dislike the production a fair bit actually, but mostly those heavy guitars... BLAH.

^^I agree with a lot of what you're saying Manbient. THE is inferior to ITEC because of pure musical quality. There juts isn't enough of that adventurous compositional goodness to be found.

Also, all the talk of cheese in the review (did you like the update btw?) is really for the sake of the new, unaccustomed / unassuming listener; I don't give half a fuck about it.
