It certainly was a bit off the wall. But I really like how it made George Sr much more sympathetic.

    How so?

The scene where Michael said "That was so retar- misguided" was hilarious to me for some reason. Maybe the last few episodes will get better for me with repeated viewings.

"For British Eyes Only" was probably the worst episode of the series.

Yeah, I had heard Prison Break-In mentioned a lot as well.

The first Marta was so much hotter (and a better actress) than the second one.

Frankline being the pimp was so obvious.

Prison Break-In is the worst for me.

I thought the Rita storyline was pretty good. Overall, though, season 3 is (as I mentioned previously) too over the top for what I wanted AD to be.

The ending to the show doesn't feel final or satisfying until you let it sink in for a while and watch the episodes a bunch of times. I was still in denial when it happened and couldn't accept it. Season 3 is infinitely better upon repeated viewings.

I've just watched all three complete seasons and love them to death.

    What I still can't understand:
Yes, the humor altered a bit from season 2 to 3 but still...is that such a huge turnoff for the series to bomb and get cancelled?
It's still 23112345 times funnier than most of the other stuff on TV, and certainly more clever written.

the series was in danger from day one. because it was an unusual style, a more daring approach, involved a lot of continuity and call backs/in-jokes, and didn't have a laugh track, many people were confused. because they are idiots. really, the show requires more "dedication" and a somewhat dryer and more sarcastic sense of humor to appreciate, but they payoff is incredible when everything finally reaches fruition.

also, fox kept twisting a knife in the show's side. they kept giving it poor timeslots, switching the timeslots, not advertising it well, etc. etc. they showed such little interest in their own series, i have no idea why they signed it up in the first place.

it seems the show was just too good to be true.

Yeah but I mean, what stupid philosophy is behind that?

"So here we have this very clever and critically acclaimed comedy that most won't get instantly but would love it if advertised correctly........ah shit, screw it to hell."

I think the comedy is so much better than shows like the Office where the funny moments are too obvious and at times forced. AD uses more subtle humor that sometimes you dont pick up on the first viewing which is why it's so great. I've seen the show 3 times already and have found funny bits I missed on each repeat viewing.

I had a 2 for 1 Rental at Hollywood last night..I got THE WEATHER MAN and I'm also giving this a shot. Watched the 1st 2 eps..not bad, not hilarious tho. Reminds me of some of the ABC sitcoms like SAMANTHA WHO or IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY in feel and tone. The teenagers may be the best part of the show. I guess I'll see, but this seems closer to FIREFLY than FREAKS AND GEEKS on 1st impression in the level of hype it deserves vs how much it actually gets/got.

I disagree. I rather found the first few episodes don't set the show up perfectly. They set up some stuff but it's not totally attention grabbing, a great first episode to get you into the show is the one where Buster hangs with Michael all day. And Pier Pressure. They are good episodes.

not sure, but the 1st disc includes the extended Pilot which i watched instead of the 1 that aired on tv. Dunno what benefit it would have been better to watch the one the network aired though.

Just posting in this thread again to remind everyone that this show was the pinnacle of entertainment on television. There is no way the show could have been improved. Perfection.

I know that. I was just saying that all the first episodes aren't the best but that one is. The one episode that hooked me on the show was Pier Pressure, however.

I didn't like it that much when it first aired. By the time it came out on DVD (probably 4 or 5 months later) I was able to enjoy it a lot more. The only episode I really don't like is :Prison Break-in".

I don't know, maybe don't watch it for a while then go back to it with a clear head.

That's what I've been doing for the whole series lately, though I occasionally watch Meat The Veals because that is a classic episode. I also watched the season 2 premiere recently.

They used to use all their whacky wtf writing on Barry Zuckercorn. It was so awesome.

I will say that season 1 and 2 are classic seasons.

The writing took a nosedive, the humor became much more obvious, they ruined my favorite character, and the british tomfoolery is the weakest moment of the whole series.

"Are you gonna buy this time or are you just curious?"
    "Well, haha... I suppose I'm buy-curious!"

    Season three was amazing.

And "Top Banana" and "Bringing Up Buster" (the second and third episodes of the series) are two of the best episodes ever. That's why I said everyone should be hooked by 3-5 episodes in.

    Bees?!
    Beads.
    Beads?!
    ... Gob's not on board.

Oh, I totally agree that the whole 007/MrF thing was kinda lame. It was still funny, just not on par with the rest of the series.

I think Gob's videos are some of the most hilarious moments in the show, like the one he did for George Michael's school campaign or the one which included the illness "TBA".

I need the .gif of Gob and Lindsay doing the chicken dance.

Or alternatively the .gif of everybody except Gob doing it.

Has anybody in this family even seen a chicken?

This show probably has the best replay value of any show I've ever seen. Re-watching a season is just as good, if not better than watching it for the first time. So many things happen in an episode that it's impossible to catch it all on the first viewing. Plus there's a lot of foreshadowing and whatnot that's great to go back and watch.
