I'd argue there's been splashes of post-rock in everything they've done in the last few years.

Yeah, it's my favorite song on the album. What an incredibly beautiful melody.

When the tempo increases and the song crescendos... fucking amazing.

Came in the mail a couple days ago. Holy fuck, actually think it could be their best. I honestly haven't cared or noticed this band much in about 10 years. I guess I should hear the one before this too now...

While this definitely a good album I am having trouble really appreciating it. It's like it's not really an Anathema album. It hasn't sunk in as fast as WBWH did.

Or perhaps I am just not getting it.....

I have never owned an album from this band, decided to give "Weather Systems" a try. Not really what I was expecting. How does a doom metal band morph into this? Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging on them. I just think it's a remarkable transformation.

I think what's more remarkable is that they pull it off and most of their fans accept and embrace the change. I think they do the atmospheric rock thing much better than doom.

Yes. And their atmospheric rock period has lasted a lot longer than their doom period, so why people still think doom is an issue when talking about this band is strange. The last doom album they did was The Silent Enigma and that is still a great album

I had the same thing actually. It took me ever since the album leaked up until last week, one fuckin day before I attended their concert in Germany, to sink in. The Beginning And The End got to me instantly, but the rest of the album .. yea, took a few weeks. Just give it time ;)

This is slowly sinking in here. I am also beginning to recognise the classic Anathema mood in some of the songs. It took a while. And yes, the first two songs are exceptional.

Yeah this is some seriously beautiful and moving stuff. The album drags a little bit in the middle, but overall its pretty fantastic. Untouchable part 2 and Internal Landscapes are my faves.

I'm sorry for the random bump but mother of God, what the hell took me so long to listen to this band? I am completely and utterly stunned right now.

I started with the new one, titled Weather Systems. I do not know if that is the best place to start, however I'm sure opinions on that will vary wildly and it's a damn good album regardless.

I'd say We're Here Because We're Here and Judgement are the best albums. A Natural Disaster and Alternative 4 are not far behind.

Judgement is probably also my favourite. A Natural Disaster, Alternative 4 and Eternity are also pretty amazing.

Actually they have never really made even a mediocre album. Also The Silent Enigma from their early days is small masterpiece.

Yeah, The Silent Enigma is amazing. I very rarely see someone mention it, but the majority of people I know who listens to Anathema do it for the soft side I guess.

Anyone in Europe catch them live yet? I am really curious how ASTRA sounds live. That duo is fucking amazing. Really wish they did some dates in North America.

Just yesternight I was hanging out with my bandmates in a private movie theater with such an amazing soundsystem, and oh, boy! The new Anathema-album sounded just so fucking incredible! I've been a fan since 2010, and I pretty much found the band because quite many reviews stated that my own band Carved in Ashes (from Finland) sounds pretty much like the old Anathema (Judgement-era). I'm not so sure about that, but nevertheless, I'm glad I found this band!

Yeah, sadly after her first solo album things went pretty meh in terms of songs, she always sounds amazing though. But that's what happens to singers/songwriters when they become really happy with their lives I guess =)
