We're Here Because We're Here was the best album of 2010. I've got some pretty high expectations for this.
Awesome. The last one took about eighteen years to get out there. I'm surprised this one will be out so soon.
Me too, I assumed we'd be awaiting at least another year. Glad to see they seem to be very active these days. Such a great band.
Hoping the US release will be close to that date. When their last album came out, it was released in Europe about a year before it was available here. Thank god for the Internets, but I'd like to be able to support them in a timely fashion.
I believe it took so long because they were between record deals, and were also having to build a new studio for themselves. Pretty sure Vinnie has said in interviews that there'll never be another long gap between albums like that again for them if they can help it.
Love the band, but that's one of the most pretentious full-of-shit press releases I've ever read. Apparently working with Steve Wilson once turns you into a self-important pubescent kid. The intertwining melodic structures of these profoundly beautiful songs are intensely powerful, yet simple. These are songs that will transport the listener closer to the heart of life, that is to say, to the heart of themselves. It is also an album of polarity. The play of opposites; light and shade, birth and death, love and fear. The simple truths of life and loss, hope and strength and darker internal themes are all explored here.
Yeah it's pretty silly, but Anathema have always had a knack for channelling emotion quite well. I've always found this song to be pretty heartbreaking, for example:
Fuck yes, didn't even know about this, and that song is awesome. Now my 2nd most anticipated album for 2012.
That track was incredible. The last 3 studio albums - Nice Day for an Exit, Are you There, and We're Here Because We're Here have been incredible. Can't wait to see if the new one keeps up the trend.
I wish the band would get a new drummer. They guy they have is adequate, but someone a bit more creative would really help.
