its not dead, im going to complain about extra shit. im annoyed by extra lore, item descriptions, story alerts, flashing menu items that only go away once you acknowledge them. i dont know exactly when video games decided that they had the core lore or story down so well that they had to figure out ways to annoy you until you read every little detail but its irritating. tell me the fucking story THROUGH THE FUCKING GAME YOU ASSES. if you cant fit it all in? maybe take a long look at why it should be included at all. there is far too much sprawl going on.
counter strike: global offensive is apparently going to support cross-platform online play. i can't wait for it, all those console ragers are gonna be hilarious
i wasn't going to buy this but if it really does this now i will so i can rape xbox players like a boss and listen to them call me a nigger
a very good point. just curious, what's your take on how Metroid Prime did this? as I recall it was the first game I played where if you really wanted backstory and lore and stuff, you had to find it by reading logs and things optionally. but it also meant that if you read none of it, the game was essentially plot-less. hard to believe that game's almost 10 years old
metroid prime(1-3) rocked. i actually enjoyed and sought after the lore, because I was generally interested in what it said. Metroid was always sort of...enigmatic and cryptic...you always wanted to know more about the shit going on around you...the world, and so picking up bits and pieces of that in the prime series was a lot of fun for me.
It was great in Metroid Prime because it never annoyed you with it, and even though it seems very optional a lot of the bits of lore come in from trying to progress in the game (scanning to solve puzzles etc) and was remarkable well integrated. Also it helps that it is very concise when it gives you tidbits of info, never really breaking the flow of the game.
