Does anyone know of a good pre order bundle that ships to the US? That one had a cool one, but it seems to only go to Germany.
guess this wasn't posted yet http://transylvanianhungerrr.blogspot.com/2010/10/agalloch-marrow-of-spirit-review.html Seems like that guys likes the album
I like the production of the sample. And I agree that the listening environment is important for Agalloch appreciation, just as it is the mindset of the listener.
Edit: Looks like there are links to two tracks on that page. I thought the other one had leaked, but...
the riffage in the very beginning of into the painted grey sounds like ©my son's dbs influenced power pop songs©
I like this, and I'm not saying that just because you're my son haha! Anyway, Bees Made Honey is almost over
The end of To Drown is the best guitar driven apocalypse rock I've heard since Skinny Fests. like i mean the rockin part not the samples of someone taking a bath
That song almost starts like a Maserati song and then evolves into this BM epic. Pretty neat. It's definitely more raw than their last disc, though.
also, I know squat about black metal so don't blame me if it doesn't sound like you would expect it to
[11:29] <+zorbo> the new agalloch is pretty tight [11:30] <+zorbo> it doesn't have as many "holy fuck" moments as the mantle or ashes against the grain, though [11:31] <+zorbo> more listens will be required
thanks for the update, zorbo and if it's anything like "Scars of the Shattered Sky (Our Fortress Has Burned to the Ground)" (the bonus track on the vinyl release) I will ejaculate all over you Fruenko.
Ok so this album is awesome. Quite raw and almost primitive in places, and a bit more bm than they have been in a while, but overall the atmosphere is amazing. Can this be preordered on vinyl anywhere?
On first listen - me not likey. Maybe it will change but first impressions are that for the most part it has less atmosphere and more standard blackish metal or something, I donno. It was a quick listen too. Hope it grows on me. Certainly isn't the new Dream Theater, though.
snatched. will add to ipod tomorrow for listening. perhaps...a walk in the drear and rain is in order...
I love this shit. I wish they did more Weakling-inspired vocals like the neat pointed out, but damn this shit rules. Not sure if I prefer it to Ashes, but it'll take some time, for certain. Much better than Wolves' newest release, since the two are being compared.
I've got to be honest guys, that preview track isn't doing a single thing for me. It's lacking something and I'm not sure what. I will completely reserve judgement until I have this CD in my hands though.
Transcoded, 192kbps, bad rip of a album from one of my all time favorite bands? Yeah, I'll wait for at least 320.
Listened twice, I'm absolutely loving this, and I don't think im like the hugest Agalloch fan either. Perhaps thats why I love it though, since alot of people dont seem crazy about it, but I'm fairly positive I'll end up liking this much more than Ashes or Mantle. And the 7:30 part of Black Lake floored me. I suppose I'll have to look into whatever that was supposedly influenced by, cause it was wonderful.
about half-way through the album, and it's....ok. nothing is really impressing me, but it isn't bad. guess it's just another Agalloch album for me to listen to every few years to see if it's gotten better.
