1 and 4 are my favorites in the series so far. I'm not bothering with 6 but I got a nice hardcover of 7 for four bucks at a grocery store so I might as well give it a shot.
Too bad about the films. I was looking forward to seeing how Ron Howard would handle demon rape and the mostly horrible dialogue. If Oprah weren't so old she'd be a shoe in for Susannah.

Oh man!!! I hope this goes through but I feel the same as most of you about how it will work.
That being said.. I will watch it, all of it, religiously.

I have a huge Stephen King boner.

'King gave JJ Abrams the rights for $19', I lol'd

Susannah is my least favorite character in the series and I hate her story arc, so I will be fine with a synopsis of 6.

Reflecting on the first five books this morning, I can't imagine this series succeeding in any TV/film incarnation. It barely works just living in the reader's mind. I love SK but his work almost never translates well to screen, at least not without substantial changes, especially to character dialogue, which for me is a large part of what makes his books fun to read.
The end product would never be bizarre (or faithful) enough for the real fans, and it would still be far too bizarre for the average viewer.

It would all be about Oy - he'd either make or break the show.
