Today, I made a huge playlist of K-pop girl group (and solo female singer) music videos. I only included videos from official channels, so there are a few unfortunate omissions ("Like the First Time" by T-ara and "I Don't Know" by APink to name a few). http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEF9FB602E385A780
Perhaps we could have a meeting with the Prime Minister about it, over a nice cup of tea and some scones
uh maybe this was posted in here already as i'm not in here a whole lot other than to touch my penis but this is fucking hilarious: 0:47 and 2:31 Bad karma for laughing at that but I don't care.
So does their album on Interscope here in the U.S. have any Korean at all? I'd love to see them attain success in the west with not only their English language stuff but Korean as well, hoping that it may break down barriers for non-English artists. Not really going to hold my breath, though. The fact that that barrier is still as strong as it is in 2012 leads me to believe it isn't going to weaken very easily.
It's all Korean besides The Boys (and the remixes of it). Most of those songs wouldn't really appeal to most US listeners anyhow. Mostly Kpop ballads and cutesy songs, save a few. Even in Japan they promote with Japanese versions though.
Huh. If they were going to keep it mostly Korean, I'm surprised they didn't include stuff like Gee, Run Devil Run, etc to basically make it a powerhouse greatest hits with a few new tracks.
Well, I wouldn't be surprised to see an all-English album with some rerecorded greatest hits thrown in. That's pretty much how their first Japanese album went. It's been pretty funny reading comments from your average American about them. There's definitely some people who are reacting exactly as anyone could've predicted. "Lame, like the Spice Girls/Pussycat Dolls" "they won't last" and one old lady was like "are they from Disney?" There's definitely a lot of arrogance too. Like I've said before, America isn't that big of a deal to them. It's much more important for Asian artists to win over China nowadays. But Americans don't seem to accept that you can be considered famous if you're not famous here. Also, I lol'd at the people saying they couldn't sing or dance.
WOW I CUT OFF THE SUBTITLES WITH MY CAPTION AND YOU KNOW HOW TO TYPE IN KOREAN THAT IS AWESOME I CAN DO IT TOO 너무나 무서워
This is not a new video, but I re-discovered it today and DAMN the girls are so cute in this video. I think if I had seen this video instead of Gee as my first K-pop* exposure, I would have become obsessed with Kara instead of SNSD. *Yes, I know this is technically J-pop.
